How does FMCSA collect the data that is shown within SMS safety scores?

Compliance Safety and Accessibility and Safety Measure System (CSA/SMS) Scores and Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Category (BASIC) data are updated through a four step process from a roadside inspection to the final score calculation. The time during the month at which the roadside inspection occurs also influences when the SMS data will appear.
